Additional Terms — Domus
These Additional Terms supplement the Terms of Service for the Domus Service. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.
In case of conflict between the Terms and these Additional Terms, these Additional Terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.
1. Service description
Domus tracks the expiry of domain names you register with it and, while your subscription is active (see Section 3a), keeps their status current by periodically querying the relevant Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) service for each domain, rather than relying solely on a one-time entry from you. Each domain is also checked via RDAP at the moment you add it, so its registrar, expiry date, and status are current from the start.
The Service exposes:
- a REST API for registering domains to track, organising them into groups, configuring notification channels, and retrieving their tracked status;
- a web panel for managing tracked domains, groups, and notification channels, and for managing your Subscription.
2. Data we process
In connection with the domain-tracking feature, Domus processes:
- the domain names you register for tracking, and the RDAP-sourced status data retrieved for them (registrar, expiry date, status);
- the groups you create to organise your tracked domains;
- the notification-channel configuration you provide (a Slack or Google Chat webhook, or a Telegram bot token and chat id — see Section 4) so that reminders can be delivered to the channel you choose;
- the domain-tracker activity log — a record of the actions you take on a tracked domain or group;
- account, authentication, usage, and billing records, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The platform Privacy Policy, together with this Service's Privacy Supplement, governs how this data is processed and retained in full detail. In summary:
- the activity log is kept for the lifetime of your account and deleted on account closure; the IP address attached to each activity-log record is cleared after 365 days;
- internal bookkeeping we keep to track whether a reminder was delivered is kept for 90 days;
- notification-channel configuration is deleted when you remove the channel, or on account closure.
3. Quotas, rate limits, and overage
Domus's quota is a stock cap — the maximum number of domains, groups, and notification channels your Subscription may hold at any one time — not a monthly allowance of API calls. There is no "included API calls per month" quota for Domus.
| Plan | Domains | Groups | Notification channels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Starter | 10 | 3 | 2 |
| Pro | 50 | 10 | 10 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
- Each cap is checked when you try to add a domain, group, or notification channel, not reset or replenished at the start of a billing period. Adding beyond your plan's cap is refused (with an error response) until you remove something to get back under the cap, or upgrade to a plan with a higher cap.
- Separately, a per-second rate limit applies to protect the Service's capacity from request bursts: 2 requests/second (Solo), 5/second (Starter), 20/second (Pro), negotiable for Enterprise. This is a capacity-protection measure, not a commercial quota — it is not "what you're buying" and does not reset on a billing cycle in the way a monthly quota would.
- Trial: a 14-day free trial is available; a valid payment method is required to start it. There is no free tier. During the trial, the caps of the plan you selected at signup apply in full; the Subscription converts automatically at day 14 unless you cancel.
The current price and cap figures are published on the Service's pricing page; the Additional Terms adopt whatever is published there for your plan at any given time.
3a. Without an active subscription
Domus has no free tier. Tracking domains and receiving reminders both require an active subscription; a trial counts as one, as does the short grace period after a failed payment described in Section 6 of the Terms of Service.
If your subscription lapses, or you never started one, the lapse does not by itself close your account, and nothing of yours is deleted because of it; the termination and account-closure provisions in Section 14 of the Terms of Service are unaffected. What changes is:
- Reminders stop. No reminder is generated for your domains on any channel. A reminder already queued at the moment your subscription lapsed may still arrive; do not rely on it.
- Automatic refresh stops. Your domains are no longer re-checked against RDAP, so their recorded status and expiry date stay as at the last successful check and will become progressively less current.
- Adding and editing stop. You cannot add a domain, group, or notification channel, rename a group, or send a test notification to a channel.
- The API stops entirely. Calls to the Domus API are refused while you are without an active subscription, including read-only calls. Viewing and exporting your data remain available in the web panel.
- Viewing, deleting, and exporting continue in the web panel. Your existing tracked domains stay visible, you can delete individual items or your whole account, and the full data export described in the Terms of Service remains available to you.
Subscribing restores every function against the same data, with nothing to re-enter.
This is a monitoring aid, and an unsubscribed account monitors nothing. While you are without an active subscription you will receive no warning from us that a domain is about to expire, including for domains you added while subscribed. Renewing your domains with your registrar remains your responsibility at all times, as Section 6 (Customer responsibilities) of these Additional Terms sets out — but during a lapse you should not treat the absence of a reminder as an indication that nothing is due.
4. Reminders
Domus sends expiry reminders through the notification channels you configure — Slack, Google Chat, or Telegram — ahead of a tracked domain's due date, based on the status Domus most recently observed via RDAP for that domain. Each of these is a destination you configure yourself (your own Slack workspace, Google Chat space, or Telegram chat); see the Domus Privacy Supplement §4 for how that data flow is handled.
- Delivery is best-effort and at-least-once. We make reasonable efforts to deliver a reminder, but do not guarantee delivery, and a reminder may occasionally be delivered more than once for the same due date.
- Repeated failure auto-disables a channel. If a notification channel repeatedly fails to accept a reminder, the Service automatically disables that channel and emails the account owner so you can reconfigure it.
- A reminder is not a guarantee. A reminder reflects the domain status Domus last observed via RDAP at the time the reminder was generated; it is not a guarantee that your domain will not expire, and it does not substitute for renewing the domain with your registrar. You remain responsible for renewing your domains regardless of whether, or how promptly, a reminder is received.
5. Service availability
- The Service is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. No formal SLA is offered on Solo, Starter, or Pro plans. Enterprise SLAs are negotiated individually.
- Domus depends on RDAP services operated by third-party domain registries, which we do not operate or control. Their outages, rate limiting, or data-quality issues may delay or prevent a status refresh, which can in turn delay or affect a reminder.
6. Customer responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy of the domain names you register for tracking;
- keeping your notification-channel credentials (your Slack/Google Chat webhook, or Telegram bot token and chat id) current and able to receive messages;
- actually renewing your domains with your registrar. Domus is a monitoring and reminder aid; it does not renew domains on your behalf and does not guarantee delivery or timeliness of any reminder. Do not rely solely on Domus as your only safeguard against a domain lapsing.
Your use of the Service remains subject to the platform Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these Terms.
6a. Liability
Domus is a monitoring and reminder aid, not a guarantee against a domain lapsing. Nothing in this Section grants any remedy, cap, or exception beyond what is already provided in Section 13 (Limitation of liability) of the Terms of Service; this Section does not create a separate or additional liability regime, and does not extend liability for a missed renewal or an expired domain beyond what Section 13 of the Terms already allows. In particular, the service-credit remedy in Section 13 of the Terms and its cap apply to Domus exactly as they apply to any other Service; this Section does not narrow or widen that cap.
7. Data retention specific to Domus
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Domain-tracker activity log | For the lifetime of your account; deleted on account closure. The IP address attached to each record is cleared after 365 days |
| Reminder-delivery bookkeeping (internal record of whether a reminder was sent) | 90 days |
| Notification-channel configuration | Deleted when you remove the channel, or on account closure |
See the Domus Privacy Supplement for the full processing detail (purposes, legal bases, and recipients) behind these retention periods.
8. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, or remove features. Material changes that affect interoperability with your integration are notified at least 30 days in advance, in accordance with the master Terms of Service.
